Potato Head Mick
Mick Flaherty has been trading stocks, options, and futures for over 30 years and has worked as an Economist and as a Broker/Trader for some of the largest firms on Wall Street. Mick began working on Wall Street in 1977 right after graduate school at the State University of New York at Stonybrook where he earned a Masters in Economics.
His initiation into trading began with futures at the outset of the tremendous run on metals, specifically silver futures. He was mentored by a legendary trader from Conti Commodities, a subsidiary of Continental Grain. From there, he worked as an Economist for Merrill Lynch Futures and as a Broker/Trader for Shearson and E.F. Hutton where he learned the intricacies of options and derivative trading. He has run the gamut from stocks to pork bellies.
In 1995, Mick founded a day trading firm which morphed into a firm designed to introduce and teach various trading techniques to individuals who wanted to take control of their portfolios. This led to Mick developing a Strategy for each different marketing environment which is useful to both the beginner and advanced trader.

My introduction to trading took place in the futures market back in 1989 when our family moved to Florida from Colorado. I opened a small account and proceeded to lose it all in a short period of time. Little did I know that every time my broker was recommending something, he was selling me his inventory that had already made him money and he wanted to take his profit so he sold it to me.
It took me 6 long and frustrating years to learn my lesson. Then I found a book about technical trading that my Dad used when he was trading stocks back in the 50's. I learned that everything I was doing was wrong. I went back to all those bad trades and looked at the technical side of the trade with a chart and I was hooked.
Then I discovered Japanese Candlestick Charting. I read everything I could get my hands on and my trading started to turn around. I learned some real simple steps to successful trading that Mick and I use to this day. The most important was money management. I am proud to say that I learned more from Potatoheadmick about good money management than at any other time in my trading career. My goal is the same as Micks': teach you the best way to protect your portfolio and keep your losses small.
